Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, on Wednesday inaugurated three state-of-the-art Squadron buildings at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) through a video conference, marking a significant boost to the institution’s training capabilities.
The new facilities, constructed under Phase II of the prestigious Naval Academy Project, are designed to accommodate the expanding needs of the Indian Navy’s growing officer cadre. They represent a major milestone in the Academy’s infrastructure modernisation drive, aimed at delivering contemporary, mission-oriented training environments that align with the operational demands of a future-ready maritime force.
Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Tripathi fondly recalled his own tenure as Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy, drawing from personal experience to highlight the transformative role of Squadron life in shaping naval officers. He commended the project team for their dedication and timely delivery of these modern facilities, which are expected to significantly enhance the quality of experiential learning for cadets.
“Experiential learning and the unique spirit of Squadron life remain at the heart of naval leadership development,” the Admiral emphasised. His remarks deeply resonated with the officers, staff, and cadets present, inspiring the next generation of naval leaders to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.
The Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, Asia’s largest naval training establishment, continues to serve as the cradle of leadership for the Indian Navy. With the induction of these three new Squadron buildings, the Academy has further strengthened its capacity to train a larger number of cadets in a more conducive and technologically advanced setting. Phase II of the Naval Academy Project is part of a broader vision to expand and upgrade training infrastructure in line with the Navy’s modernisation and indigenisation goals.
Defence analysts view this development as a timely step that reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to investing in human capital. As the Navy expands its fleet and operational responsibilities across the Indo-Pacific, ensuring world-class training infrastructure has become a strategic priority.
The inauguration underscores the seamless synergy between the Navy’s senior leadership and its premier training institutions in building a robust, combat-ready force for the decades ahead.
