Lt Gen PK Mishra Reviews Security Preparedness in Basantgarh

Udhampur: Lt Gen Prasanna Kishore Mishra, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps (XVI Corps), accompanied by Major General APS Bal, GOC of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), conducted a detailed operational visit to the Basantgarh area in Udhampur district to assess the prevailing security situation and troop readiness.

During the visit, the senior commanders received comprehensive briefings on the existing security grid, force deployment, surveillance mechanisms, and contingency plans. Discussions focused on further optimising the operational framework, enhancing multi-agency coordination, and strengthening synergy among security forces to maintain a stable hinterland.

Lt Gen Mishra emphasised the critical importance of sustained vigilance and proactive measures in countering emerging threats. He commended the troops for their high morale, professionalism, and unwavering commitment, urging them to uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.

The White Knight Corps, responsible for securing key areas along the Line of Control and maintaining stability in the Jammu region, continues to prioritise integrated efforts with central and state agencies. Such forward-area engagements underscore the Indian Army’s commitment to robust counter-insurgency posture and seamless operational preparedness in challenging terrain.

Officials described the visit as part of routine command-level reviews aimed at reinforcing deterrence and ensuring a secure environment for the local population.
