Assam Rifles Engages with Media and Influencers in Mizoram to Strengthen Civil–Security Coordination

Zokhawthar, Mizoram: In an effort to enhance coordination with civil society and improve the flow of information at the grassroots level, the Assam Rifles conducted an interactive session with local journalists and social media influencers at Zokhawthar in Champhai district of Mizoram. The outreach initiative aimed at building stronger cooperation between the security forces, media representatives, and the local population in a sensitive border region.

The session focused on the role of media and digital platforms in disseminating accurate and timely information related to recruitment opportunities, welfare schemes, and public outreach programmes. Officials highlighted the importance of wider publicity for upcoming Agniveer recruitment drives and Short Service Commission (SSC) entries, encouraging journalists and online content creators to help spread awareness among youth in remote areas who may otherwise have limited access to official notifications.Another key area of discussion was the welfare of ex-servicemen residing in the region. Assam Rifles representatives briefed participants about various government and force-level schemes designed to support former soldiers and their families, stressing the need for effective communication channels so that eligible beneficiaries can access these facilities without delay.

Participants were also sensitized about the importance of responsible reporting and verified information sharing, particularly in border districts where rumours and misinformation can affect public confidence and security operations. By involving local journalists and social media influencers, the force aims to create a reliable network for rapid dissemination of factual updates and public advisories.Officials noted that Zokhawthar, located close to the India–Myanmar border, holds strategic as well as social significance, making civil–security cooperation essential for maintaining stability and public trust. Interactive engagements of this nature are part of a broader outreach effort by the Assam Rifles to strengthen its connect with local communities across the Northeast.Participants actively took part in the discussion and expressed willingness to support awareness campaigns related to recruitment, welfare initiatives, and community programmes. The interaction concluded with a shared commitment to maintain regular communication and collaborative engagement in the interest of regional development, security, and social harmony.
