UuIndia mourned the loss of a dedicated soldier as Naib Subedar Suman Kumar Singh (45), a braveheart from Bihar’s Nalanda district, was laid to rest with full military and state honours on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Naib Subedar Singh attained Veergati (martyrdom) after being caught in a devastating avalanche while serving in the challenging high-altitude terrain of Ladakh. His mortal remains were brought to his native village of Mokrampur in the Noorsarai area of Nalanda, where grieving family members, fellow villagers, and senior officials gathered to pay their final respects.

Large crowds lined the streets as the funeral procession moved through the village, with many saluting the coffin draped in the tricolour. The soldier was cremated amid chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Veer Suman Kumar Singh Amar Rahe,” reflecting the deep respect and sorrow of the entire community. A Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, Naib Subedar Singh had served the nation with unwavering commitment in one of the most inhospitable regions along the northern frontiers. His sacrifice underscores the daily risks faced by Indian troops guarding the country’s borders in extreme weather and difficult terrain. Defence sources and local administration officials attended the last rites, ensuring the family received all entitled benefits and support. Tributes poured in from across the country, with citizens and netizens expressing gratitude for his service and extending condolences to the bereaved family.
Naib Subedar Suman Kumar Singh is survived by his wife, children, and other family members. His untimely demise has left a void in the village that proudly nurtured this son of the soil. The Indian Army and the nation stand united in saluting this gallant soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
