The Indian Naval Academy (INA) witnessed an evening of pride, nostalgia and quiet celebration as the Valedictory Dinner for the Passing Out Course was hosted at the historic Katari Cadets’ Mess ahead of the forthcoming Passing Out Parade. The occasion brought together cadets, senior naval leadership and proud family members in a ceremony that symbolised the culmination of months of rigorous military training and personal transformation.
The event was graced by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, who will also serve as the Reviewing Officer for the Passing Out Parade. His presence added ceremonial significance to an evening already charged with emotion and accomplishment.
For the parents of the graduating trainees, the dinner offered a rare opportunity to step into the world their wards had inhabited during one of the most demanding phases of their lives. The Katari Cadets’ Mess, more than just a dining hall, has long stood as a place of camaraderie and resilience where future officers forged enduring friendships while navigating the physical and mental rigours of naval training.
Interacting warmly with the cadets and their families, Vice Admiral Saxena commended the trainees for their perseverance, discipline and commitment to service. He also acknowledged the role played by parents and families whose support remains central to the making of a naval officer.
The atmosphere throughout the evening reflected both celebration and reflection. As the cadets stood only hours away from formally joining the ranks of the Indian Navy’s officer corps, the occasion underscored the Academy’s enduring ethos of honour, courage and commitment.
