Mhow: India’s top military leadership is sharpening its focus on the future of warfare, with General Anil Chauhan engaging with senior officers on the transformative role of technology and joint operations in upcoming conflicts.
During an interactive session with participants of the Joint Operations Course for Advanced Professionals (JOCAP 26) at the Army War College (AWC), the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) shared his strategic vision for the evolving battlefield. The discussion centered on how armed forces must adapt to rapid technological change and the growing complexity of modern war.

Addressing future tri-service leaders, General Chauhan emphasized the need for agility and preparedness in an era increasingly defined by technological dominance. He urged officers to embrace innovation and remain responsive to shifts in warfare, including advancements in cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, and integrated multi-domain operations.
The session also underscored the importance of jointness among India’s armed forces, with the CDS highlighting the critical role of coordinated planning and execution across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This approach, he noted, will be essential in addressing emerging threats and ensuring operational effectiveness in future conflicts.
In a move aimed at fostering innovation, General Chauhan also unveiled the Defence Technology Journal, a platform intended to promote research, dialogue, and the development of cutting-edge military technologies. The initiative is expected to support India’s broader push toward self-reliance and modernization in defence capabilities.

The event was hosted under the aegis of Integrated Defence Staff, reflecting its role in advancing jointmanship and strategic integration across the services.
As global militaries increasingly pivot toward technology-led strategies, India’s focus on preparing its leadership for future wars signals a clear intent to remain competitive in an evolving security landscape shaped by innovation and rapid transformation.
