Mhow: The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, celebrated the graduation of 40 officers from the Signals Officers Degree Engineering (SODE-113) and Technical Entry Scheme (TES-45) courses on Friday. The officers were awarded B.Tech degrees in Communication & Computer Science, marking a significant milestone in their professional journey within the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals.
Shri S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), graced the occasion as the chief guest. He presented the degrees and awards while commending the graduating officers for their dedication and outstanding performance. In his address, Shri Krishnan emphasised the vital strategic partnership between MeitY and MCTE in leveraging emerging technologies to bolster national security and advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of *Aatmanirbhar Bharat*.
The event also recognised academic excellence. Major Krishnapal Singh secured the first position in the order of merit for SODE-113, while Lt Kapil topped the TES-45 course. Both were awarded the Chief of Army Staff and Signals Officers-in-Chief’s trophies along with gold medals for their meritorious achievements.
Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, Commandant, MCTE, formally admitted the officers into the fraternity of engineers. Deputy Commandant Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan administered the pledge, urging the graduates to apply their acquired knowledge to enhance professional effectiveness in service to the nation. The ceremony was attended by distinguished dignitaries from academia, families of the graduating officers, and senior military personnel. Notably, four officers from friendly foreign countries — Gambia, Vietnam, and Bhutan — were among the successful graduates, underscoring MCTE’s growing international stature.

A Legacy of Excellence
Established as the School of Signals in 1946 and redesignated as MCTE on October 1, 1967, the college serves as the premier training institution and think tank for the Corps of Signals. Located in the historic cantonment town of Mhow (now Dr. Ambedkar Nagar), it boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including advanced laboratories for Software Defined Radio, cryptography, satellite communication, quantum technologies, electronic warfare, and cyber security.
MCTE offers specialised courses in telecommunication engineering, information and communication technology, and related domains. It plays a pivotal role in developing technically proficient leaders capable of operating in modern network-centric warfare environments. The institution’s collaborations with premier academic and research bodies further strengthen India’s defence technological self-reliance.
This convocation not only honours individual accomplishments but also reaffirms MCTE’s critical contribution to building a future-ready Indian Army.
