Army War College, Mhow hosts IIT Youth group under Yuva Sangam programme

Mhow, Madhya Pradesh

The Army War College (AWC), Mhow hosted a group of young engineering students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore as part of the Government of India’s Yuva Sangam Programme. The initiative facilitated engaging discussions on next-generation technology integration, innovation, and the strengthening of national and professional bonds.

The visit, conducted under the broader umbrella of the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, brought together students primarily from Jharkhand with faculty and personnel at the prestigious Indian Army institution. Yuva Sangam aims to promote national integration through experiential learning, cultural exchange, and direct exposure of youth to diverse institutions across the country.

According to an official X post by the AWC, the “Engineering minds across domains” participated in stimulating conversations focused on “Next-gen Tech Integration- Igniting Innovation & Forging National & Professional Bonds.” The interaction highlighted synergies between cutting-edge civilian technological expertise and the strategic requirements of national defence.

This engagement is part of Phase VI of the Yuva Sangam programme. Delegates from Jharkhand, hosted by IIT Indore, visited multiple military establishments in the Mhow cantonment area, including the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) and Infantry Museum. The point where the students enjoyed the most, is the area in Hema Field Firing range of army, where battle tanks of Armoured squadron are parked for maneuvering and training at the range area. These visits provided insights into military communication, cybersecurity, technological advancements in defence, and the rich history of the Indian Army through tours of defence museums and related facilities.

The Army War College, Mhow, is a premier training and research institution of the Indian Army, known for conducting higher command and staff courses for senior officers. Its location in Mhow in the state of Madhya Pradesh, a major military training hub, makes it a natural venue for such youth outreach programmes.

Yuva Sangam, operationalised by the Ministry of Education, seeks to foster mutual understanding and unity among the youth of different states by pairing institutions and regions under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” framework. In this pairing, Madhya Pradesh (with IIT Indore as the nodal institution) is connected with Jharkhand.

The programme underscores the growing emphasis on bridging the gap between academia, particularly premier technical institutions like IITs, and the armed forces to encourage innovation, knowledge sharing, and a deeper appreciation of national security needs among the country’s future technologists.
