Surankote, Poonch: Lt Gen P K Mishra, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, conducted a detailed operational visit to forward and operational areas in the general Surankote region of the Poonch sector to assess the prevailing security environment and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
During the visit, Lt Gen Mishra received comprehensive briefings on the robust counter-terrorism grid, the intelligence framework, and the high degree of inter-agency coordination that has enabled effective domination of the hinterland. Senior field commanders updated him on ground realities, infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC), and measures to maintain peace in this strategically sensitive area south of the Pir Panjal range.
The Corps Commander interacted extensively with troops deployed in challenging terrain, praising their high morale, exceptional combat readiness, and steadfast commitment to safeguarding national interests. He emphasised the importance of sustained vigilance in a dynamic threat environment.
Such visits by senior military leadership hold profound operational and motivational significance. They result in Corps Commanders to gaining first-hand insights into tactical challenges, validate operational plans, and ensuring that strategies formulated at higher levels align perfectly with ground realities. More importantly, they reinforce the chain of command, boost troop confidence, and signal the Army’s proactive posture in contested regions. In Jammu and Kashmir, where hybrid threats persist, these engagements strengthen synergy between the Army, paramilitary forces, and civil administration, creating a unified response framework against terrorism.
The White Knight Corps, responsible for a critical stretch of the LoC and hinterland security, continues to operate under the guiding ethos of being ‘Alert, Adaptive and Always Ready.’ Lt Gen Mishra’s visit underscores the formation’s resolute commitment to decisive action and relentless vigilance in maintaining peace and stability in the region. Defence analysts view these regular field visits as vital instruments in the Indian Army’s strategy to dominate the information and operational space, denying terrorists any breathing room while reassuring local populations of the forces’ unwavering presence. The Corps remains poised to respond effectively to any emerging challenge.
