MCTE Bags Indian Army’s Digitisation & Automation Excellence Award

New Delhi/Mhow: The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, has been conferred with the Indian Army’s prestigious ‘Digitisation & Automation Excellence Award’, recognising its outstanding contribution to the force’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

MCTE Commandant Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi received the award from Chief of the Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi during the Army Commanders’ Conference held in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The award honours MCTE’s exemplary implementation of centralised digital applications, seamless data integration, and the successful transition toward paperless operations across its ecosystem. The college has played a pivotal role in developing robust digital workflows that are now serving as a model for broader adoption within the Indian Army.

Senior officials noted that these initiatives are foundational to creating a comprehensive, reliable, and real-time data architecture, a critical enabler for future Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered decision support systems. The enhanced digital backbone is expected to deliver significantly higher operational efficiency, faster information flow, and more informed strategic planning at all levels of command.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen Dwivedi commended MCTE’s efforts, describing them as a benchmark in innovation and a source of inspiration for other formations and units. He emphasised that such advancements are essential as the Indian Army accelerates its modernisation drive to meet the demands of network-centric and technology-driven future warfare.

Established as the Indian Army’s premier institution for telecommunication, electronics, and information technology education and training, MCTE continues to play a central role in developing technologically proficient leaders and specialists. The latest recognition reinforces the college’s position at the forefront of the Army’s digital transformation efforts.

This award comes at a time when the Indian Army is placing increasing emphasis on indigenisation, automation, and the integration of emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, and secure digital networks, to enhance combat effectiveness and operational readiness.

The honour not only highlights MCTE’s internal achievements but also underscores the Indian Army’s broader commitment to leveraging technology as a force multiplier in strengthening national defence capabilities.
