The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, a premier training institution of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, successfully concluded the Regimental Signaller Officers Course on February 23, 2026. The announcement came via an official post from the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) on X, highlighting the course’s role in strengthening tactical communication capabilities across participating nations.
The specialized training program brought together officers from the Indian Army and friendly foreign countries, including Mauritius, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mongolia, Namibia, and Sri Lanka. This multinational participation underscores India’s growing stature as a preferred training partner for defence forces in the Global South and beyond, fostering interoperability and shared expertise in modern battlefield communications.

The course focused on enhancing proficiency in critical areas such as Battalion Level Signalling, Tactical Communication, Signal Oriented Tactics, and emerging Niche Technologies. These modules equip officers with the skills required to ensure seamless, secure, and resilient communication networks at the regimental and battalion levels—essential for network-centric warfare in contemporary conflicts.
Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan, SM, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor (DCCI) at MCTE, delivered the closing address to the graduating student officers. In his remarks, he emphasized the strategic importance of advanced signalling and communication systems in modern military operations. He also felicitated outstanding performers, recognizing their dedication and excellence throughout the rigorous program.

Capt Jatin Garg of the Indian Army was adjudged the ‘Best Student’ of the course, receiving special commendation for his outstanding performance across theoretical, practical, and field exercises.
MCTE, located in Mhow (now Dr. Ambedkar Nagar) near Indore, Madhya Pradesh, serves as the Indian Army’s designated Centre of Excellence in fields including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Electronic Warfare (EW), Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, 5G/6G technologies, IoT, Satellite Communication, and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS). The institution plays a pivotal role in developing leaders capable of harnessing cutting-edge technologies for defence applications.
The inclusion of international participants reflects India’s defence diplomacy efforts under the “Neighbourhood First” and broader “Act East” policies, as well as initiatives like the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, which extends training opportunities to partner nations. Such courses not only build technical capacity but also strengthen bilateral military ties, promote mutual understanding, and enhance collective security in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
The successful culmination of this Regimental Signaller Officers Course reaffirms MCTE’s commitment to producing highly skilled communication specialists ready to meet the demands of future warfare. As militaries worldwide increasingly rely on integrated, technology-driven networks, initiatives like this contribute significantly to operational readiness and regional stability.
The Indian Army continues to prioritize such professional military education programs, ensuring its officers remain at the forefront of innovation in tactical communications and signalling.
