Delhi: In a tribute to one of India’s most revered war heroes, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, inaugurated a 54-foot national flag mast at the ‘Paramveer Smritika’ memorial in Khajuri, Shahjahanpur.
The installation commemorates the legacy of Jadunath Singh, a soldier of the Rajput Regiment, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra—India’s highest military honor—for his extraordinary bravery during combat.

The towering mast, bearing the Indian national flag, stands as a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism at the memorial site dedicated to Singh’s valor. Speaking at the ceremony, Lt Gen Katiyar paid homage to the fallen hero, emphasizing the enduring inspiration drawn from such acts of courage.
“The Tricolour soars with pride, sanctified by the blood and valour of our immortal warriors,” he said, reflecting on the significance of honoring those who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

The ‘Paramveer Smritika’ serves as a place of remembrance, preserving the stories of gallantry that continue to shape the ethos of the Indian Army. The unveiling ceremony was attended by military personnel, local officials, and members of the community, underscoring the deep connection between the armed forces and the public they serve.
Nk Jadunath Singh’s heroism dates back to the early years following India’s independence, when he displayed exceptional courage in the face of overwhelming odds. His legacy remains a cornerstone of military tradition, inspiring generations of soldiers.
The initiative by the Indian Army’s Western Command reflects an ongoing effort to honor its heroes while reinforcing values of duty, sacrifice, and national pride in both military ranks and civilian society.
