Dimapur | National Integration Tour Delegation Returns to Nagaland After Multi-City VisitLieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, interacted with members of the National Integration Tour (NIT) delegation at Dimapur following their return to Nagaland after a multi-city visit across India.The delegation, comprising 23 Civil Society Organisation (CSO) leaders from Nagaland, undertook an extensive tour covering Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Shillong. The initiative aimed at fostering greater understanding, strengthening national unity, and promoting cultural exchange between the Northeast and other parts of the country.During their visit to Ahmedabad, the delegation toured the iconic Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The visit provided participants an opportunity to learn about Patel’s role in India’s integration and nation-building efforts. They also visited the historic Sabarmati Ashram, closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi and India’s freedom movement.In the national capital, the delegation paid homage at India Gate and the National War Memorial, where they honored the sacrifices of India’s armed forces personnel. A key highlight of the Delhi visit was their interaction with the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting was described as a significant moment for the delegation, reinforcing the spirit of inclusivity and national unity.The tour also included Shillong, providing the participants exposure to regional diversity within the Northeast itself.Upon their return to Dimapur, Lt Gen Pendharkar commended the delegation for their active participation and encouraged them to share their experiences within their respective communities. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening bonds between different regions of the country and enhancing mutual understanding.The National Integration Tour is part of ongoing outreach efforts aimed at building bridges, encouraging dialogue, and promoting a shared sense of nationhood. Participants expressed that the exposure to historical landmarks, national institutions, and interactions with constitutional authorities had broadened their perspectives and reinforced their commitment to unity and cooperation.The successful completion of the tour marks another step toward fostering closer ties between Nagaland and the rest of the country, underlining the enduring importance of engagement, awareness, and national integration initiatives.
