Mhow: Dr Mayank Sharma, Strategic Communication Adviser to the Ministry of Defence, delivered an insightful address on the critical role of strategic communication in safeguarding national security during the ongoing Strategic Fusion and Convergence Capsule (SFCC-2026) at the Army War College (AWC), Mhow.
The session, held as part of the five-day capsule that brings together officers from the Indian Armed Forces, friendly foreign countries, central ministries, academia, industry, think tanks, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the Indian Coast Guard, focused on fostering synergy and a “Whole of Nation” approach to security challenges.
Dr Sharma shared his expertise on effective strategic communication and narrative management in an era of complex geopolitics, hybrid threats, and information warfare. He emphasised how timely, credible, and coordinated messaging can shape perceptions, counter adversarial narratives, and strengthen national resilience in an increasingly contested information domain.
Participants, comprising senior military officers and representatives from diverse stakeholder groups, engaged actively with the discussion, which underscored the evolving importance of Stratcom not merely as a support function but as an integral component of modern national security strategy.

The Strategic Fusion and Convergence Capsule 2026, conducted from 24 to 28 March 2026 at AWC Mhow, aims to promote convergence of thought and action across military, governmental, academic, and industrial ecosystems. Other sessions during the capsule have featured distinguished speakers, including Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd) on military-civil fusion and Mr Dinesh Mahur, Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, on R&D challenges and government initiatives in defence manufacturing.
This initiative by the Army War College reflects the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on professional military education that integrates multi-domain awareness and collaborative frameworks essential for addressing contemporary and future security threats.
The capsule is expected to conclude with actionable insights and recommendations to enhance inter-agency coordination and collective response capabilities in support of India’s national security objectives.
