Mhow, Madhya Pradesh: Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), delivered a keynote address to participants of the Joint Operations Capability Assessment Program (JOCAP) at the prestigious Army War College (AWC) in Mhow on Thursday.
In his address, Admiral Tripathi emphasized the critical need for military leaders to cultivate adaptive qualities amid a rapidly evolving global landscape. He exhorted the course participants, comprising senior officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and possibly allied services, to develop as adaptive leaders capable of responding effectively to shifting geopolitical dynamics and swift technological advancements.

The event, hosted at the Army War College, a premier institution under the Indian Army focused on higher command training, joint warfare studies, and doctrinal development, forms part of the ongoing JOCAP initiative. JOCAP is designed to enhance joint operational capabilities and foster inter-service synergy among India’s armed forces, aligning with broader efforts toward integrated theater commands and tri-service cooperation.
Admiral Tripathi, who assumed the role of the 26th CNS on April 30, 2024, highlighted how contemporary challenges, ranging from great-power competition in the Indo-Pacific to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, and unmanned systems, demand flexible, innovative leadership. His message underscored the Indian Navy’s commitment to navigating these changes while contributing to national security objectives.
The address was shared by the official Army War College Mhow account, which noted the CNS’s interaction with JOCAP participants and tagged relevant defense entities, including the Indian Navy (@indiannavy), Indian Army (@adgpi), Army Training Command (@artrac_ia), and the Ministry of Defence Spokesperson (@SpokspersonMoD).
This engagement reflects the growing emphasis on jointness across India’s military services, as evidenced by similar high-level interactions at AWC in recent months, including addresses by senior officers on topics like intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and historical joint operations.

Admiral Tripathi’s visit to Mhow reinforces the importance of cross-service dialogue in preparing future leaders for multi-domain operations in an increasingly complex security environment. The JOCAP program continues to serve as a vital platform for building cohesive operational understanding among the armed forces.
