Mhow, India: The Army Training Command (ARTRAC) of the Indian Army marked a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to strengthen cyber warfare capabilities, as the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow concluded its latest Basic Cyber Security Course on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The program brought together officers from diverse arms and formations, alongside participants from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), underscoring India’s growing role in fostering international military cooperation in emerging domains such as cyber defence.
At a formal closing ceremony, Major General Gautam Mahajan, SM, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of MCTE, felicitated the graduating officers and presented awards to outstanding performers. Among them, Captain Suprateek Jha was adjudged the Best Student of the course, reflecting excellence in mastering complex cyber security concepts and operational applications.
The course is part of a broader initiative by the Indian Army to equip its personnel with specialized skills tailored to the demands of modern, technology-driven warfare. With cyber threats increasingly shaping global security dynamics, such training programs are becoming indispensable in preparing officers for the “high-tech battlefield.”
A notable feature of the course was the participation of foreign officer trainees from Chad, Kazakhstan, Mozambique, Peru, and Egypt. In a symbolic gesture of camaraderie and long-term partnership, these officers were presented with the Indian Army Lapel Pin, an emblem representing enduring association and shared professional bonds.
The graduating officers now move forward with enhanced technical proficiency and operational readiness, positioning them to play critical roles in safeguarding digital infrastructure and supporting military operations in an increasingly contested cyber domain.
As militaries worldwide accelerate investments in cyber capabilities, institutions like MCTE continue to serve as vital hubs for training, collaboration, and innovation, bridging national and international efforts to secure the future battlefield.
