The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, a premier training institution of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, has successfully concluded its ‘Advanced Data Processing Course’ for Record Officers on Friday.This specialized program, designed to modernize administrative and records management capabilities within the Indian Army, equipped participating officers with essential skills in the contemporary digital landscape.
Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan, SM, the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of MCTE, presided over the valedictory ceremony. He felicitated the graduating officers and presented awards to outstanding achievers, recognizing their dedication and performance throughout the rigorous training.
The course focused on key areas critical to efficient record-keeping and data handling in a digitized military environment.
Participants gained expertise in: – Record Office Automation Software- Tools to streamline administrative workflows and reduce manual errors.
Basic Cyber Security- Foundational principles to protect sensitive military records from digital threats.
Networking- Understanding secure communication networks for data transmission.
Database Management- Techniques for organizing, querying, and maintaining large datasets.
Analytical Systems- Methods to derive actionable insights from records data, supporting better decision-making.
These competencies are increasingly vital as the Indian Army continues to integrate advanced information and communication technologies (ICT) into its operations, enhancing accuracy, speed, and security in personnel and administrative record management.

Among the graduates, Maj Boopathi B from the Sikh Regiment Records emerged as the top performer and was adjudged the Best Student of the course. His achievement highlights excellence in mastering the demanding curriculum.
Established as a key centre for training in telecommunications, cyber security, electronic warfare, and emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing, MCTE plays a pivotal role in preparing Indian Army personnel for the demands of modern warfare and digital defence. The conclusion of this course underscores the institution’s ongoing commitment to building a tech-savvy force capable of managing records and data with precision in an increasingly connected battlefield environment.
